In a collaborative effort to combat drug and substance abuse, the Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations (ZCIEA) has partnered with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) during the Community Labour Forum held in Marondera on the 28th of October 2022.

During the forum, ZRP Marondera delivered a compelling presentation on the detrimental effects of drug abuse and substance misuse, emphasizing the critical role communities play in actively engaging in the fight against drugs. The presentation underscored the grave consequences of drug and substance abuse, particularly on the youth, including mental illness and, tragically, death.

Participants, who are also members of the communities, were urged to collaborate and strive towards raising sober children capable of contributing to economic development and growth. The prevention of drug and substance abuse was highlighted as paramount in halting the cycle of addiction that burdens families, many of whom are already striving to make ends meet in the informal economy.

ZCIEA commended the efforts of the Zimbabwe Republic Police for their dedication to combating drug and substance abuse within our communities. The partnership between ZCIEA and ZRP signifies a unified commitment to creating a safer and more prosperous society for all, with a focus on economic development across all ZRP networks and beyond.

By working together and fostering such partnerships, ZCIEA and ZRP aim to address the scourge of drug and substance abuse comprehensively, paving the way for a brighter future and healthier communities.
